Bob Helfrich is Senior Vice President, and Corporate Secretary and General Counsel of NAC International. He joined NAC in 2003 as its first corporate general counsel. Bob is responsible for all legal work at NAC including domestic and international contracts, export controls, patents and technology licensing, corporate governance, acquisitions, government contracts and regulations, management of outside counsel, and legal advice to company executives.Mr. Helfrich has nearly 50 years of experience in the nuclear industry including the last 40 years as a lawyer. He was previously senior nuclear counsel for Exelon and FPL Energy – two of the leading nuclear utility operators in the United States. He was previously a lawyer in Washington, D.C. with the nuclear practice group of Winston & Strawn and a registered U.S. patent attorney at Finnegan Henderson.
Formerly, as a nuclear engineer in 1975, he joined General Electric at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory as a reactor systems performance, nuclear safety analysis and prototype core testing engineer, and he attended law school beginning in 1980 while he was the licensing and regulatory affairs manager for Yankee Atomic Electric Company.
He earned a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Illinois and a juris doctor cum laude from the New England School of Law in Boston.
