NAC Performs shipment of fuel rods in support of Westinghouse’s EnCore Fuel development

NAC recently completed a shipment of accident tolerant fuel (ATF) lead test rods to Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).   The rods containing Westinghouse EnCore^TM Fuel technology were sent to ORNL for post irradiation examination in support of the EnCore Fuel Program, which is being implemented by Westinghouse in partnership with ORNL, Idaho National Laboratory (INL), the DOE and General Atomics. NAC performed the successful shipment using the NAC-LWT package currently licensed to make those shipments.  A link to Westinghouse’s announcement can be found here; the photos feature the NAC-LWT system.
