NAC is proud to join leading nuclear organizations to sponsor Navigating Nuclear: Energizing Our World™, a new program from the American Nuclear Society and Discovery Education to help students learn about nuclear science and technology. This program provides students and educators the tools they need to understand nuclear and all they ways it can benefit our lives.
Through this partnership, Navigating Nuclear provides a program that encourages students to explore the many applications of nuclear in energy, medicine, food, and the environment.
“We are pleased to support this outstanding program from ANS and Discovery Education, because thanks to Navigating Nuclear, students will have high-quality materials to begin learning about nuclear science and technology,” said Kent Cole, president and CEO of NAC. “Among the students that take part in this program could be the nuclear scientists, engineers and specialists of tomorrow.”
In addition to providing lesson plans, career profiles, and FAQs about nuclear, the program also offers a virtual field trip to the Palo Verde nuclear power plant in Arizona. In fact, NAC has supplied used fuel storage systems to Palo Verde.
Since its launch in 2018, Navigating Nuclear has offered a glimpse into nuclear for some 500,000 middle school students. Starting this school year, the program has begun offering materials for high school students to learn about nuclear.
