Managing nuclear fuel and other radioactive material and waste safely and effectively through their life cycle is a complicated business. That is one reason why NAC International has evolved to offer our customers products and services every step of the way. Today, NAC’s family of companies offers integrated fuel cycle, radioactive material, and waste management solutions unlike anyone in the industry and is positioned to help the nuclear sector deliver on its extraordinary promise of achieving goals safely, efficiently, and cost effectively.

For more than 50 years, NAC has provided nuclear fuel cycle and waste management solutions for commercial and government clients. Now we not only provide a wider range of products and services, our family of companies also serve a broader range of customers, from existing nuclear power plant operators and developers of next-generation small modular reactors (SMRs) and advanced reactors to commercial companies, national laboratories and government agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Energy.

Transportation is one of the core foundations of NAC. We offer end-to-end solutions for transporting components, new and used fuel, materials, and waste. Our team has completed nearly 4,000 shipments of nuclear fuel, radioactive material, and waste worldwide. Over the past year, NAC’s OPTIMUS-L packaging has been approved by the U.S. NRC to transport HALEU for advanced reactors. In addition, our subsidiary NAC LPT specializes in logistics, packaging, and transportation to bring components to a plant construction site or haul away materials or waste from cleanup sites. Another core foundation of NAC is our long-term Storage Systems for spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and unique, high activity waste forms. We currently support the United States, Canada, and countries worldwide with these systems via NAC or our subsidiary Niagara Energy Products, Inc. (NEPI).

NAC is also involved in completing the nuclear material and waste life cycle with characterization, packaging, technical services, interim storage, and final disposition. Our subsidiary NAC Philotechnics can provide turnkey solutions by dispatching personnel and a mobile radioactive material license to customers’ sites to solve their radiological material and waste problems. Or we can send the material and waste to our licensed facility in Oak Ridge, TN. NAC is also part of a proposed consolidated interim storage facility in West Texas and our dry storage equipment is included in the plans approved by the U.S. NRC. In addition, NAC is partnering with Deep Isolation on innovative solutions for deep borehole disposal of SNF and other waste.

Today NAC companies don’t just manufacture equipment for storage and transportation, we are equipped to manufacture components for SMRs and advanced reactors. NEPI can produce SMR components at one of its facilities in Ontario Canada and NAC parent company Kanadevia fabricates nuclear site equipment at its Ariake, Japan facility.

In addition to the products and services NAC companies provide, we also offer dependable, highly specialized consulting services – nuclear industry insights, including complex pricing trends, forecasting of market regulations, training, and technical and quality oversight to utilities, suppliers, and government agencies. NAC has woven together a global network of experts that covers the entire nuclear fuel cycle. These offerings include web-based software for Nuclear Material Control & Accountability (MC&A) reporting to track radioactive materials. Our consultants can also serve as unbiased advisors for companies and organizations on procurement strategies when seeking suppliers.

With our proven, integrated nuclear fuel cycle and waste management solutions, companies and organizations can focus more on meeting their objectives and less on qualifying and contracting vendors. With NAC’s family of companies, we are there to help every step of the way – from project development, manufacturing components, and delivering fuel to operations support, managing materials and waste, site remediation, and final disposition. That’s why NAC is the essential partner to help nuclear energy and waste management move from this generation to the next.
